Block Watch

The Sumas Police Department started a city wide Block Watch program in 1999.  We are proud of this program because it encompasses the entire City of Sumas and it has become an International Block Watch as well.  We say International because we now have citizens on both sides of the international boundary that are phoning when they see something out of place.

Block Watch is simply neighbors watching out for each other and then phoning in suspicious people or activities to the Sumas Police Department.  Police officers cannot be everywhere at once and we rely greatly on our citizens to phone in for us so that we can adequately respond to situations.  The goal is to be proactive instead of reactive which will hopefully help prevent crimes before they occur.

Officer Chris Fuhrman is in charge of the Sumas Block Watch Program.  If you would like to become a member please call or e-mail Chris.  The time commitment is minimal as we try to meet only once or twice a year.
